To deepen his expertise, Luke studied Garden & Landscape Design at the Eden Project and SRUC Edinburgh, combining horticultural knowledge with design training. His practice has since been enriched by hands-on learning across Europe, particularly the pioneering sand-culture techniques of Swedish plantsman Peter Korn, which underpin his climate-resilient, low-maintenance planting style. Based in Edinburgh, he balances his design studio with the practical grounding of a landscaping background, ensuring every concept is as buildable as it is beautiful. In 2025, Luke was named RHS Young Designer of the Year for his debut show garden, Drakkars Drift, a project that blended cultural storytelling with ecological innovation. The garden went on to win a Gold Medal, Best Construction and the People’s Choice Award. Today, his portfolio spans intimate private gardens and large collaborative landscapes, always with a focus on craft, detail and long-term care. A lifelong affinity with the natural world, nurtured on childhood holidays exploring South Africa’s floristically rich Western Cape, fuels Luke’s commitment to ecologically responsible design. When not tending clients’ gardens, he can be found walking wild coasts and woodlands, studying plant communities for inspiration. From intuitive master-planning to meticulous after-care, Luke creates gardens that honour place, nurture wildlife and enrich everyday living.
